Eric’s BJJ “Lowlights” Video?

This was from the Joslin’s 2008 Canadian Open Grappling/BJJ tourney…

Why do I call it a ‘lowlight‘ reel instead of a highlight reel?

I’ll be sharing it in my next post, but watch the video and Maybe YOU can tell me:

QUESTION: Why do you think I’m calling this a lowlight reel?

[I’ll give you a hint – it’s not because I came in 4th instead of 1st]

* Leave your guess in the Comments section below *

Next post I’ll be sharing the (embarassing) truth in as well as the immediate actions I took to fix this problem PLUS a new exercise most of you have never seen before.

Because you don’t try to be “flashy”. Just trying to do what is “effective”.

I know I’m probably a bit late on the reply but I would say stamina. it looked like both the guys ran out of gas pretty early and the action slowed down a bit.

Please don’t tell me I’m correct with : because the lighting was horrible (?)

or B) a highlight reel is typically a video of a fighter and his flashy moves or finishes… there was nothing worth highlighting there (no offense, it’s just a guess! i’m sure you’re plenty great 😉

I’m guessing you’re calling this a “low-light” because, in spite of being in a dominant position more than once – see full mount, full back mount with two hooks in – you could not seal the deal. Each time, your opponent was able to escape/reverse the position.

@ Mike C – they give you a red belt to differentiate you to the judges for scoring purposes…

@ Dragonmamma – no I didn’t get tea bagged, thankfully! lol

@ cork_boi – yeah that pissed me off big time to have fake trees but that wasn’t it…

Actually, no one’s got it yet… The mystery continues…

Plus it wasn’t that exciting either! Haha, “Highlights” are usually interesting/exciting :p

Haha because it wasn’t short. “Highlights” are normally very short as in really short in the sense that it’s 10-15 seconds. This was like more than that for each frame

It almost appeared like you tried to knee the guy around minute 2:30. Perhaps it was just the angle..

Low / worse moments rather than the best moments (=highlights) of the fight ?
“lowlights” can be useful to see were you need improvements…

Lack of control??

Was it the fact that there was more bad technique than good technique? I mean, he got taken down then tried to lock in a triangle the wrong way. Could barely hold position. I’m thinking there is some kind of balance issue going on. Or too much strength being used and not enough technique.
