  • MMA Bodyweight Circuit Workout to PEAK!

It just so happens I’m training a fighter for a fight that’s 3 weeks away and we’re in the midst of the Peaking phase, so to follow up on the article I just posted, here’s a video to see what a peaking workout for conditioning is all about.

For those of you who have my Ultimate MMA S&C program, you probably recognize this circuit. It’s a slight variation of my NRG System Bodyweight Complex.

BTW I shot this on my iPhone with an app that makes it look like it’s from the 70’s – this is not some rare footage from old-school training LOL.

Enjoy and let me know what you think:

If you wanna know EXACTLY how to integrate this type of workout in terms of volume, frequency, combined with strength training to get the BEST results possible, I highly suggest you follow the link below:

  • How to Taper to Be a Monster For Your Fight

I recently got a question from a reader asking me, "Should I stop lifting a week before my fight?"

In short, the answer is a resounding ‘YES’!

But that’s the kind of answer you get when you ask a simple question.

A more complex (and better) question would be, "How do I alter my training to maximize my ability to perform at my best in my fight in the week or two leading up to it?"

Well ask and you shall receive!

OK so I’m talking to myself right now, I’d better stop and just get on with it before they take me away…

Here are some KEY pointers on how to alter your training to be at your best so when you step into the cage you’re at your physical peak.

  • Nutrition Interview with Brad Pilon

This is what I’ll be tackling over the holidays:

My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

    Can’t wait.

Anyway, I know a lot of people tend to pack on weight over the holidays simply because they eat too much.

To counteract this, you could try intermittent fasting.

    Here’s how to do it:

  • Jeff Joslin’s MMA QuickStart Training Program

My good friend, coach, BJJ Black Belt, ex-UFC fighter and all-around cool dude Jeff ‘The Inferno’ Joslin just released his brand-new MMA QuickStart Training program.

He’s got the typical long web page that makes your eyes go numb while reading them (I’m guilty of it too, sorry), so I decided to shoot a quick video where I interrogate him about the program and get him to tell you exactly what it’s all about.

Check it out here, then go to www.MMAQuickStart.net to grab it while it’s still on sale (and if you’re a VIP subscriber to my newsletter, a special freebie).

  • 5 Minute Foam Rolling Routine

Just a follow up to my previous post where I showed you how to make your own PVC roller…

Here’s a 5 minute routine that you can do along with me – gets kinks out in all the places the body tends to hold kinks!

If you’ve never rolled before, you’ll definitely want to do it on a softer roller before going the way of the PVC…

But after a month or two on the regular foam roller it’ll be time to step up.

Either way, here’s the vid – try it out and let me know what you think:

As always, your Comments and questions are appreciated, so leave them below, as well, hit the ‘Like’ button if you like healthy tissues!

  • ExTReME Foam Rolling!#$@!

OK so I get a kick out of calling this extreme.

    Whatever.

This makes a cool little project that you can feel like a man after making.

It’s also a great gift for the fitness buff!

  • Amazing No-Flour Cashew Butter Muffin Recipe!

This recipe always amazes me and others who try it.

"What, this has no flour? Impossible!"

"Really, no flour, are you serious?"

I once even observed the placebo effect in action where someone was assured there was no flour in the recipe, but got bloated and gassy just as they normally would’ve had they eaten a normal muffin, because of their gluten intolerance.

Weird stuff and just goes to show the power of the mind.

Anyway, they’re also super easy to make and they’re so tasty you’ll want to eat the whole tray.

But don’t – you’ll get just as fat eating these healthy muffins as you would eating regular muffins. 😛

  • One of the WORST Exercises for MMA

Whenever I train people in the gym, I often cringe at what I see other people doing.

Bad form is everywhere and I can see people’s bodies getting destroyed as they’re supposedly working out.

Not only that, some of the exercises and routines I observe people doing are pure lunacy.

But one thing I can’t stand is when mixed martial artists are told to perform exercises that are completely useless or downright dangerous.

I mean, if you’re going to tell a fighter what to do, you’d better be damned sure that you know what you’re talking about, because this guy’s (or increasingly so, gal’s) health is at stake.

For the average Joe who hits the gym to get bigger biceps and impress the ladies, a little bad advice here and there won’t kill him.

But for the combat athlete who’s about to step into the cage against some brute who wants to tear his head off, poor training advice could mean the difference between winning a fight and being too gassed to keep your hands up and getting KO’d with an ugly cowboy punch.

Needless to say, I take my job seriously.

So in this article, I’m going to expose one of the absolute WORST exercises to do as a fighter.

And just because you see a UFC fighter doing an exercise on TV or in a YouTube vid doesn’t mean it’s gotten them to where they are…

A lot of times fighters would be better off not doing an exercise instead of ruining their bodies with some of the idiotic stuff I’ve seen.

Anyway, without further adieu, here’s one of the WORST exercises for MMA…

    Drum roll please…

  • Activating the CORE for Power

Here’s why we need to learn how to properly activate the core muscles:

If you spend much of your time sitting on the computer, watching TV or driving (or hopefully not on the toilet), then you NEED to learn how to properly activate the muscles responsible for torso rotation if you’re interested in maximizing your punching power.
