Controversy, we’ve all heard it by now. So here’s some more ‘Machida-Gun’ tidbits for you to peruse.

The first one is a good video from the folks over at MMA Fanhouse:

Next up we have some very interesting Compustrike stats that give round-by-round details on how they scored the bout:

I thought Shogun’s landed blows were all more damaging than what Machida dished out…case in point, Machida’s cornermen icing down his legs between every round and Machida having alot less bounce to his step with each progressive round.

An awesome fight by far, however what happened after is definitely debatable. It’s hard to know what the judges are looking for. It’s that all three judges scored unanimously. Rua was definitely more agressive, and scored some impressive kicks, not to take anything away from Machida. I like both guys and would feel the same if the fight went either way.
Here’s something to look forward to….the rematch.

Uhm, carl Froch vs andre dirrell, I beleive that over 12 rounds dirrell landed the effective strikes but again none of them made the effort to really want the win. shogun stated that his corner was telling him he was winning and therefore played it safe, gameplans are good but he should of gone out like a warrior, they both should have, I know the skill set werent much in the early ufc’s but atleast they went out there to finish it!

Yep, thats always the problem if you leave it to the judges. But for me it sounds a little bit like, if you don’t knock the champion out, you lost already. I thought Shogun won the fight. I felt sorry for him, because he worked his ass off. I saw the preview for this fight and ist seems a little bit that Machida was more worried about to make a good impression and learn english.
I like Machida and I think he is a good fighter. And I also think it would be wrong to make him responsible for the decision.

Coming into the fight I felt Machida was the dominate fighter, even with Shoguns background in Pride, Machida has shown such dominance in his past fights with stand up, and his takedown defense would neutralize shoguns grappling abilities. In the end, I felt Shogun deserved the win, although reviewing the compustrike numbers it’s a lot closer than it looked.
Looking forward to the rematch, and as it’s been said a million times…. don’t leave it up the judges.

    Machida vs Shogun “Grand Theft”
Lyoto is a class act but I know that his reign will not be long lived. Shogun proved Saturday night that besides that kick fake and his speed there isn’t really much more to him. Shogun will beat him again!

As for the co-main event. It was just a matter of time.

With any luck all of the guys looking for a title shot watched this and will use it to inspire them to work harder and leave it all in the cage! I don’t agree with the decision but unless you take it out of their hands——it is your fault!

I don’t understand how you can lose a fight when you land more strikes than the other guy even throws without being knocked out or submitted. However, I did not have the chance to watch the fight cause I don’t have pay-per-view so maybe I missed something..

I think that Shogun won the fight, but it just goes to show you that if you want to take the title away from the belt holder, you have to submit, knock out, or definitively beat the tar out of the champ for five rounds to take that title away. That decision was as outrageous as they come and Mauricio handled himself with class after getting screwed out of the win.

I see the point of ‘You gotta beat the champ to take the belt away’ but I don’t think it makes any sense at all.

      You’re in a fight.

You either win, or you don’t.

Doesn’t matter if you’re a complete newbie and it’s your first fight or you’re on your 10th title defense.

I really think this MUST be black and white and that champs don’t get any special privileges.
