Advanced Core Circuit for RIPPED Abs

eric-wong-ripped-absThe conventional exercises most people use to train their abs suck.

What I’m talking more about is how they do the exercises, typically with tons of reps of shitty little crunches or bicycle abs or something, or super long holds of planks.

What’s more effective is stringing different exercises that require different qualities, such as training in different planes of motion, hitting different aspects of your abs and in different positions, like lying prone or supine or hanging from a bar.

This is how I train my pro and UFC fighters so I’m guessing it’ll work for you too.

Best of all – in today’s video I’m hooking you up with a nasty little circuit that will absolutely torch your core that includes ALL of these elements.

I suggest starting off at 2 rounds, then progressing up slowly to 4 or 5 rounds, then moving on to something else.

Your core adapts very quickly so it responds better to variety compared to other muscle groups, which are a lot dumber and respond better to repeated stimuli.

Check the workout then if you want some more killer core exercises and routines that don’t suck, peep the link under the vid because you want to keep throwing new routines at your abs for best results.

Like I said, VARIETY is key because your core is a neuromuscularly intelligent muscle group.

The reason why is because it is designed to protect vital areas of your body (spine, organs) and is used in pretty much every movement you do, so it has learned HOW TO LEARN very well!

That’s why I suggest you check out this link:

These routines on the page above were designed by my pal and fellow Torontonian Andrew, who is a 2-time Ontario Gold Medalist in Boxing and Muay Thai Champ.

I highly suggest you peep it to ensure you’ve got everything you need to win the war on your core!

  • Get a WAR ready CORE

    Get a WAR ready CORE

UFC 165 was in Toronto this past weekend, so a bunch of friends and I got together.

Who do you know from the pic below?

    ufc-crew

If you guessed Chris Lopez, Vince Del Monte, Yuri Elkaim (striped hoodie) and the black guy you can barely see as Funk Roberts, you guessed right.

Funk and I had a little wager going on that directly affects you. We’ll get to that in a second…

Now, if you’ve never been to a UFC, I highly recommend sitting somewhere like we did, not on the ground and elevated in the first section in the middle. You get a good view of the cage and the screen that way.

It’s not necessarily about the view anyway, as you end up watching the screen most of the time.

It’s the energy in the building when someone lands a big punch. Or the champ steps into the cage, ready for battle:

Speaking of being ready for war, I’ve got a killer little workout for you.

It’s a superset you can use “finisher” style, just like my previous post where I showed you an Advanced ABS Ladder.

If you like the feeling of tight abs after you’ve torched them and it didn’t take 5 ba-zillion situps to do it, then you’ll love this workout, too.

And most importantly to all you ass-kicking mixed martial artists, dynamic core stability is an uber-important ability to train and if you do this workout and the last one I showed you, your core is guaranteed to be rock-solid.

    EricWongMMA vs. FunkMMA

Now, I mentioned earlier that Funk and I had a little wager going on for the main card…

Based on our non-standard rules, I took it 3-1.

    EricWongMMA vs. FunkMMA

And because I won, instead of getting another beer, I decided to use it to get Funk to hook you up with an insane price for his Elite MMA S&C program – I got him to hook you up for only $29 instead of the regular price of $99.

    Pretty sweet deal.

“Eric, how does Funk’s Elite MMA program compare to your Ultimate MMA program?”

    Good question.

    Here’s how they stack up…

Ultimate MMA S&C lays out an exact plan to follow, week-by-week, to lead you into a fight.

If you don’t have a fight, then you just go through it like you do have a fight.

Funk’s Elite MMA program is more dynamic and could be seen as following the conjugate system of periodization, whereas my Ultimate MMA program is based more on linear periodization, aka the “block” method.

My program has more background info and scientific explanations behind it. It’s basically like an entry level course in kinesiology for MMA.

Funk’s program isn’t as science based, but has more workouts than mine. The Elite MMA videos are also really high quality.

So in terms of getting you ready for a fight, I do believe my program to be superior.

If you’re not fighting, Funk’s program offers more variety and will be more fun if you like that sorta thing.

Now, if you have more than 12 weeks in between fights, then following his program will be a great idea during that time, then you can follow my 12-week plan to get yourself ready for your fight.

    And for $70 off, it’s a no-brainer if you’re a serious mixed martial artist.

But you can only get this price from this special link, so go for it.

    You won’t be disappointed.

    Advanced ABS Workout Finisher

Here’s the video of the Advanced ABS Workout Finisher:

Perform the workout ladder style from 6 reps down to 1 rep:

    1. L-Chinups (or Fetal Position Chinups)
    2. SB Prone Rollup (or SB Rollouts)

The key is maintaining NEUTRAL spine, which trains your core to protect your back and be in the position for maximal power transfer.

If you’ve got a fight coming up, I recommend using these types of workouts, which train the Aerobic + Lactic energy systems, from 12-8 weeks out.

As you get closer, you want to focus on the Aerobic + Alactic, then the NRG System Complexes.

If you don’t have a fight, do these types of Aerobic + Lactic workouts in 4-week blocks.

  • ADVANCED Plank Variations

    ADVANCED Plank Variations

My last post on plyometrics was a long one.

    The video was even longer…

So, to ensure you’re getting variety in your diet of fitness and training info from me, here’s a short, to the point video showing you some advanced plank variations you can use to develop a rock solid core:

Stability training should make up at least 50% of all the direct core work you do.

Holds of anywhere from 10-30 seconds are good.

Aim for a total time under tension of anywhere from 3-5 minutes, so that would be 6-10 reps @ 30 seconds.

Or 3 sets of 6 reps when holding for 10 seconds.

Either way, just make sure the math works.

If you have trouble figuring it out, find a local Chinese guy to help you out. They can often be found in Chinese restaurants and/or laundromats. If there are none, any other Oriental with slanty eyes should do fine.

If you liked this video, let me know with the handy ‘Like’ button that was designed for such a purpose.

    And answer me this:

    What’s your #1 core exercise?

    Look forward to your response.

    PEACE~

  • 3 Stretches to Combat Modern Society

Today’s society is taking a MASSIVE toll on our bodies…

Many of us park our butts in an office chair for 8 hours a day mulling over spreadsheets or plugging away inside Outlook…

Others are road warriors who spend a couple of hours traversing the land in the modern-day horse and buggy called the car.

Not to mention our hobbies, one of which, if you’re reading this blog, is likely mixed martial arts training, with its guard, clinch, single and double leg takedown attempts, chin-tucked fighting stances, shoulders rounded forward like a turtle’s shell, abs constantly on to make the body as small a target as possible.

    I know it's not MMA, but it's a perfect example of what I'm sayin'…

Our bodies, which are almost a thing of perfection – the strength, power, athleticism, quickness and grace with which we move in the upright position and with good posture is something truly amazing – are regressing and de-volving to the point that Darwin would be afraid for our species’ (modern man) survival.

    Well that’s about to change…
